Spero is Hiring an Electrical Designer Near Phoenix, AZ

This is a Mid-Level BIM designer position.The position requires a comprehensive understanding of 2D and 3D CAD software and a demonstrated knowledge of 3D design capabilities. This position also requires experience in drawing development in the area of electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities design and the associated infrastructure. Job duties will also include the coordination of drawing production activities between all disciplines at the project level.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage and/or supervise drawing production on medium to large multi-discipline projects concurrently.
  • Prepare and direct manpower assignments for CAD technicians.
  • Perform lighting design, layout, and luminaire selection.
  • Develop base circuit designs, including switch and receptacle locations and circuit sizing.
  • Size wire to the load and breaker requirements.
  • Generate one-line diagrams, MCC elevations, and switchgear layouts with minimal assistance from engineering.
  • Create elementary schematics.
  • Perform layout and routing of conduit, cable tray, and duct banks with minimal input from engineering.
  • Generate duct bank sections with minimal guidance from engineering.
  • Generate manhole/handhole schedule based on duct bank routing.
  • Perform field verification of existing facilities.
  • Perform basic material shop drawing reviews.
  • Responsible for quality check of drafted product and conformance with drawing production standards and project specific CAD/BIM requirements.
  • Provide basic technical support for electrical 2D and 3D CAD/BIM applications.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of experience in engineering or related field.
  • Experience with supervising drafting staff.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 820
  • Working knowledge of electrical design and the interface between structural components and mechanical equipment and piping and yard utilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with 3D design.
  • Ability to use my client's design tools for electrical design functions.
  • Experience with MicroStation, Bentley Raceway and Cable Management or Revit MEP, and Equipment Modeling.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two-year technical or Associate Degree.
